The Virginia High School League (VHSL) has designated football as a Higher Infection Risk Activity as football involves close, sustained contact between participants, lack of significant protective barriers, and a high probability that respiratory particles will be transmitted between participants.
Qualified Athletes - Phase 3
For a coach or athlete to be eligible to participate in any session, he/she must:
Have a signed COVID-19 Waiver on file with D1SA. A link to the waiver is provided below. This one-time waiver as a registration addendum.
Complete and pass our Health Survey prior to attending each session
Here are the Health Survey Questions:
Question #1: Have you experienced a fever of 100.4 F or greater in the past 14 days?
Question #2: Have you recieved a positive result from a COVID-19 test within the last 14 days?
Question #3: Have you been in contact with anyone while he/she had COVID-19 or symptoms of COVID -19 in the past 14 days?
Question #4: Within the past fourteen (14) days, did you, your athlete, or any member of your household deviate from the State of Virginia COVID-19 guidelines, regardless of whether you were within or traveling outside of the State of Virginia?
Question #5 In the past 14 days, have you experienced any of the following new symptoms not attributed to another health condition: cough, loss of smell or taste, runny nose, shortness of breath, or sore throat?
Denial of Participation - Phase 3
D1SA Football will not allow any athlete or coach to participate in training or practice sessions for the following reasons:
If answered “Yes” any of the Health Survey
Anyone denied entry due to a “Yes” answer to questions any health questions, you must obtain a medical release prior to rejoining any sessions.
If D1SA does not have a signed COVID-19 Waiver from the parent or legal guardian
Team Training, Game, and Practice Risk Mitigation - Phase 3
Social Distancing
Player equipment on the sidelines must be spaced at least ten (10) feet apart
Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) has a limit of 250 people (combined players and coaches) per designated site
Players and coaches must refrain from handshakes, high fives, fist/elbow bumps, chest bumps, close quarter group celebrations, etc.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Athletes and coaches are not required to wear face coverings or masks during Phase 3
Athletes and coaches are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings or masks when social distancing is not possible
Artificial noisemakers such as an air horn or electronic whistle are recommended to replace traditional whistles
We recommend parents and spectators in all risk groups wear face coverings or masks
Water Bottles
Athletes and coaches must bring their own water bottles to all activities
All water bottles must be marked with a name to avoid possible contamination
Individuals must take their own water bottles home each night for cleaning and sanitation
Water bottles must not be shared. Food must not be shared.
D1SA Football will not provide any hydration to athletes.
